About me: meet the blogger
Hey there!
Thanks for stopping by and welcome to my little corner of the world! My name is Danisa. I’m a mom of 6 (with baby #7 on the way), homeschooling, living off-grid on our homestead in the mountains, and learning how to run a full home in a way that actually works for us.
I am originally from sunny San Diego where we first learned to homestead on a 20 acre beautiful mountain home. The transition from San Diego to the wild Northern mountains was anything but easy. My husband and I have been married for 16 years and have a wild bunch of kids ranging from 14 to a soon to be newborn! We retired from the military after 20 years of service, and stepping into civilian life was one of the hardest transitions we’ve faced. The Lord has been faithful through all of it, and He’s used this season to teach us more than we ever expected. One of the biggest changes? Learning how to homestead in the northern Mountains, especially after living blocks from the beach most of my life, and no longer being attached to the military. My husband and I also run a non-profit called Warriors Rise where we help to train up the next generation of young men! Our passion to mentor and encourage young men to do hard things and be warriors for Christ has been the biggest blessing for our family. You can check out our ministry here.
Homesteading and being a mother to many children has always been a dream of mine, but it wasn’t something I grew up with. I’ve had to learn everything along the way. Growing up, it was just my sister and I—latchkey kids in the city. So the fact that I’m now raising a large family, homeschooling, homesteading, and living off-grid still makes me laugh sometimes. I love to talk about motherhood, being the best help meet to my husband that I can be, homeschooling, raising little warriors for Christ, healthy living, and of course dairy cows!
Most days don’t look perfectly planned.
For a long time, I thought that meant I was doing something wrong. But I wasn’t.
I just needed systems that actually work for a home like mine.
That’s what you’ll find here.
Simple, real-life systems for:
feeding a large family
homeschooling multiple kids
keeping a home running
Homesteading
Simple ways to use your hands to create
and learning to honor God through it all
This isn’t about doing everything perfectly.
It’s just what’s working right now.
And if you’re trying to run a full home too, I hope it helps you.
Being a mom of (almost) 7 hungry kiddos, and running a small homestead is a large undertaking and I would love to teach you what I have learned along the way. I do not have it all down, I still have so much to learn, but I would love to share what I have learned so far. I’d love to know—what part of running your home feels the most overwhelming right now?
Sincerely,
Danisa
